The New Black

Confession time! (don't you just love it when I say these words?) I have not worn a black outfit ever since my goth phase back in 1998. Not that I have anything against this color, or the lack thereof (get it? black is achromatic, I crack myself up), but wearing an outfit that is absolutely black gets me thinking about teenage goth girls or the ye old saying "black is slimming" (no it isn't, diets are).
In any case, looking like one of the horsemen of the apocalypse is not for me, but there is another way to wear it.
The recent fashion crops have successfully proven what I kept saying for the past 43454566 years: when going for the head to toe black look- mix fabrics and textures so you won't end up looking like Elvira, the queen of darkness. The different materials reflect the light differently, adding more life to your all black outfit, as modeled by Toad.

Toad really likes this look from Kanye West FW 2012 collection that was recently shown on the runways of Paris fashion week. I too like some of the collection, the part that does not bore me to death.
Here in Alexander Wang's FW 2012 collection you can see original use of different textures and materials. I love how he played with volume and shape, too.
